COMMUNITY
INVOLVEMENT PHILOSOPHY
Stiles
Corporation actively participate in the communities
it serves, focusing philanthropic efforts on supporting education
and children's services, aiming to make a difference in the
quality of life for today's youth and tomorrow's leaders.
In
November of 2003, Stiles Corporation was recognized for their
community service. The Outstanding Corporation
Philanthropic Award was presented by Sun-Sentinel for their
years of work in the local communities.
KIDS IN DISTRESS
Stiles helped build the multi-building facility at a lower than market cost. Also, Stiles employees have been active in this organization, from serving on the board to serving as president.
HABITAT FOR HUMANITY
Each year Stiles employees take the lead with the Habitat for Humanity builds. In 2005, Stiles contributed to the Habitat Women's Build. October 2005 - Chief Operating Officer Steve Palmer has volunteered his services as Chair of the local Habitat Chapter's Board of Directors.
MUSEUM OF SCIENCE AND DISCOVERY
Stiles is a proud sponsor of this exhibit for the Museum of Discovery and Science called "Gizmo City," an interactive, hands-on exhibit designed to teach children the basic science of building. MUSEUM OF ART
Doug Eagon, president of Stiles Corporation, has been a longtime supporter of the Museum of Art and currently serves as Chairman of the Board.
JACK
& JILL CHILDREN'S CENTER
Since
2001, Stiles Corporation and its employees have adopted
Jack & Jill Childrens Center. There has been an
enthusiastic and collective commitment to support the Center
by volunteering time with the children, collecting food and
clothing for parents and children, helping with the centers
landscaping and minor repairs. Great success has been realized
in the efforts to help the center and all the good people
associated with it. For example, over 200 complete meals have
been delivered to the center and well over 30 boxes of clothesall
of which was donated by Stiles employees. Terry
Stiles is currently President of the non-profit organization,
Jack and Jill Childrens Center, and headed up the capital
campaign to build them a new childrens resource center
for underprivileged families. The building had its grand opening
in Summer 2003, and it is more than just a housing facility.
It is a 17,389 square foot facility able to accommodate 130
children ages birth to five. There are classrooms for kids
and adults, a kitchen, administrative offices, a resource
room, clothing bank, teachers lounge, and 4,265 square
foot outdoor playground. Many Stiles employees have followed
Terrys example by donating their own time to read to
the children on Friday afternoons; also, there is an organized
monthly drive to donate food, clothes and household items
to the center.
