Stiles Launches Construction of Junior Achievement World’s Huizenga Center
COCONUT CREEK, FL – Stiles Construction Co. has launched construction of the world’s largest Junior Achievement education center -- the 59,500-square-foot JA World’s Huizenga Center at Broward College. The building underway for Junior Achievement of South Florida is located on a 4.8-acre site on Broward College’s North Campus.
Slated for completion in 2009, the structure will enable Junior Achievement to provide more than 50,000 students a year from Broward and South Palm Beach County schools with "hands-on" educational programs in business, entrepreneurship and personal financial management.
"We are pleased to be playing a role in creating JA World’s Huizenga Center, knowing that it will help a new generation of entrepreneurs begin to envision their own potential for success," said Stiles Construction Co. President Timothy Moore.
The building will also serve as headquarters for Junior Achievement of South Florida, and will include training and meeting space to be available for use by area companies and groups, according Melissa Aiello, the organization’s president.
"Stiles Construction’s responsiveness and solutions-oriented approach makes them more of a partner than a contractor as our organization makes this dramatic shift forward," she added.
JA World’s Huizenga Center will be home to two new programs, JA BizTown and JA Finance Park, that will significantly transform how students are taught to view the world of work and free enterprise, according to Aiello. The experiential programs will give students a sense of participating in real-world business activities, and the interior will include simulated "mini-cities" with street scenes featuring shops, offices and a restaurant.
For fifth graders, JA BizTown will provide a learning environment in which students operate and patronize real businesses, learning to meet goals of satisfying customers, paying off business loans and realizing a profit at the end of the business day.
JA Finance Park will enable eighth graders to enter the world of business to experience free enterprise. Students will study financial decisions to be made, consider available options and construct a personal budget.
