Stiles’ Managed Office Complex in Downtown Fort Lauderdale and Property Management Team Win TOBY Awards
FORT LAUDERDALE – November 13, 2012 – Stiles is proud to announce that its managed office complex in the Las Olas corridor of downtown Fort Lauderdale won The Outstanding Building of the Year (TOBY) Earth Award from the Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) Fort Lauderdale/Palm Beach. Stiles also took home the Chief Engineer and Property Manager Awards from BOMA, making the November 2nd event at the Ritz-Carlton Fort Lauderdale a night to remember.
The highly coveted Earth award was presented to Kimberly Burns, Senior Property Manager at the Las Olas Centre office complex located at 350 and 450 Las Olas Blvd. The award acknowledges Stiles’ sustainability programs, which have shown to reduce operating expenses by approximately ten percent compared to similar buildings. This is Las Olas Centre’s second consecutive TOBY award and first in the Earth category. For the individual awards, Stiles’ Director of Maintenance and Engineering, John Braun, was given the Chief Engineer nod while its President of Property Management Chris Rotolo was honored for the company’s overall management program and industry mentorship.
“Stiles’ winning both the building award and two individual awards is a landmark achievement and a true testament to our dedication to superior management and sustainable practices,” said Chris Rotolo, president of Stiles Property Management. “Besides the reduced utility costs and water usage, our owners and tenants report other benefits from our sustainability program, such as happier employees and a more productive workplace.”
The Earth award specifically recognized Las Olas Centre’s sustainable practices, such as energy and water conservation, improved indoor air quality, green cleaning and tenant education. The building achieved Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold certification in early 2011. Las Olas Centre is an 18-and 14-story office complex totaling 259,607 square feet and 209,746 square feet, respectively. The combined property is home to a variety of office and retail tenants including: Huizenga Holdings; Akerman Senterfitt; Gunster; Wells Fargo; Merrill Lynch; Starbucks; The Royal Pig Pub; and Timpano.
As one of the first property management firms in Florida to implement a fully-integrated sustainability program, Stiles Property Management has managed such landmark projects as 300 Las Olas Place, Florida’s first existing multi-tenant office building to achieve Gold LEED certification, and Lake Shore Plaza II, Broward’s first multi-tenant office building to achieve Silver LEED certified.
“We are truly honored to receive this esteemed recognition and look forward to continuing to set the benchmark for quality in office buildings and excellence in office building management,” said Rotolo.
