The Jim Moran Foundation broke ground on its five-story headquarters complex in Fort Lauderdale.

The building will total 63,000 square feet at 4545 N. Federal Highway. The foundation acquired the 2.43-acre site for $9.8 million in 2021.

The building will house 42 staff for the foundation and contain office space, event space, a gallery about Moran’s life and the Jim Moran Institute for Global Entrepreneurship.

Fort Lauderdale-based Stiles is the general contractor of the project, which was designed by Nashville-based Hastings Architecture.

“We wanted to translate Jim Moran’s visionary mindset into the architecture of the building and its surrounding landscape,” stated David Bailey, design partner at Hastings. “This design inspiration results in striking forms of textured, angular surfaces with dynamic carves and focused openings that highlight important programs inside, and frame views out directionally towards places of relevant connection to the foundation’s history.”

The building should be completed in March 2025.

The foundation was established in 2000 by automotive entrepreneur and billionaire Jim Moran. He died in 2007 and the foundation has continued contributing to the community, with more than $230 million funded.
