Stiles, a full-service real estate company based in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., announced today the opening of a new office in Charlotte, NC along with its core team who is executing all development operations in the region. This is the company’s first office in the Carolinas and will help to facilitate its expansion plans in the Southeast. The Charlotte office operates as a hub for all business within North Carolina and surrounding states, and offers a range of commercial real estate development services for the office, residential, retail and mixed-use market segments.

Leading the North Carolina team will be Scott MacLaren as president of North Carolina operations. This team is tasked with sourcing new acquisition and development opportunities throughout the Southeast. MacLaren is primarily focused on development and redevelopment of neighborhood shopping centers and mixed-use projects as well as the acquisition of value-add commercial properties and new land inventory. Prior to this position, MacLaren served as Senior Vice President of Stiles Real Estate Investments, pursuing new retail and multi-family development opportunities throughout Florida.

“Establishing this office and professional development team solidified our presence in North Carolina while setting us on our way to meet all of our investment goals in the region,” said MacLaren. “We hope to build our presence here steadily and organically, with the addition of top local talent who can help us to carry out our current projects in the market while we actively acquire properties for future development.”

Supporting MacLaren is Chris Grenier, who Stiles recently promoted to Vice President of Development and Construction, as well as Beth Middleton, who joined Stiles in July 2013 as a Development Manager.

Grenier joined Stiles in 2012 as Senior Development Manager in Charlotte and is credited with helping MacLaren to establish the company’s presence in North Carolina. Prior to Stiles, Grenier served as director of design and construction for Charlotte-based Crosland for 11 years, where he managed the development of more than 2.5 million square feet of retail and mixed-use projects totaling more than $500 million. Grenier’s project track record includes Birkdale Village, The Shops at Greenridge and Biltmore Park Town Square.

Middleton also served with Crosland in the role of Senior Development Manager for nine years and oversaw design and construction of more than 1.5 million square feet of retail and mixed-use space. Middelton was directly involved in multiple high profile projects throughout North Carolina including—Blakeney, Blakeney Crossing, Biltmore Park Town Square, and Mayfaire Town Center.

Currently, Stiles is developing three Publix-anchored shopping centers totaling more than 200,000 square feet—Ballantyne Shopping Center at 11222 Providence Road West, Mint Hill Commons in downtown Mint Hill, and Shops at Southline at 2222 South Boulevard in historic South End—and has several others in the pipeline.
