Stiles Realty is pleased to announce that Senior Vice President Norm Adams has been awarded NAIOP South Florida’s 2019 Office Lease of the Year for securing the lease with law firm Akerman LLP at The Main Las Olas office tower in downtown Fort Lauderdale. The Awards of Excellence ceremony took place on Thursday, March 14th at the Marriott Harbor Beach Resort & Spa in Fort Lauderdale. The awards are the most prestigious of their kind and recognize individuals and organizations whose achievements contribute to the local commercial real estate industry, benefit the regional business environment and facilitate economic growth in South Florida.

Currently under construction, The Main Las Olas, located at 201 E. Las Olas, is a generational, mixed-use development featuring a 25-story Class A office tower and 27-story residential tower, packed with technology and amenities, spanning a full city block bordering Las Olas Blvd. and SE 3rd Avenue. Akerman is amongst the first office leases at The Main Las Olas, which features high-end restaurants and eateries as well as a Publix GreenWise organic market. The project will open next year in the Fall.

Adams and the Stiles executive team faced several unique challenges leasing for downtown Fort Lauderdale’s newest office tower, the most obvious being the tower’s completion set three years out. However, they focused on what did exist – Stiles’ track record of success and its reputation for quality and performance. After two years of negotiation, Akerman became anchor tenant and the first signed pre-lease for The Main Las Olas, the largest mixed-use project ever built in downtown Fort Lauderdale. The Akerman lease marked the largest new construction office pre-lease signed in Broward County in 2018 and was one of the largest office lease transactions in the downtown submarket for the year.

“From Terry Stiles’ original vision of this project to the amazing team executing it, everyone involved is deeply invested in creating the finest mixed-use project ever built in our downtown that will carry on Terry’s legacy,” said Adams. “We are very thankful to Eric Rapkin and the entire executive team at Akerman who believed in this project from the beginning. The Main Las Olas will transform the central business district on Las Olas and expand the active core to west of 3rd Avenue by creating a place where people can live, work, create, dine and entertain. We are extremely proud to be a part of something this special in downtown.”

In addition to Akerman, Stiles also signed law firm Berger Singerman LLP and BBX Capital for a total of 85,000 square feet. For leasing opportunities, please contact Norm Adams for office or Dan Coyle for retail at 954-627-9400. Visit www.TheMainLasOlas.com for more information.
