Actively Seeks Development and Acquisitions Opportunities on West Coast

Stiles, a leading commercial real estate development firm founded in 1951 and headquartered in Fort Lauderdale, announced its planned expansion in the Greater Tampa market with the promotion of Austin Freedman to Director of Retail and Commercial Development – West Coast, FL. Freedman will focus on development opportunities for both ground-up and redevelopment of all commercial property types.

Born and raised in Tampa, Freedman is returning to his roots with the goal of significantly expanding Stiles’ footprint throughout the region over the next two years. Stiles’ decade-long history in Tampa includes the previous ownership and management of the former SunTrust Financial Center, a legacy 527,000-square-foot class A office building, as well as the development of several Publix-anchored shopping centers including Shoppes at Avalon and Arbor Square at Connerton. In addition, Stiles currently manages approximately 500,000 square feet on the west coast of Florida, from Tampa south to the Fort Myers and Cape Coral areas. Major assignments include the Promenade at Naples retail center in Naples and Bayshore Office building in Tampa.

“We are highly committed to the Tampa market, where we see tremendous opportunity for other commercial product beyond our core retail business,” said Ryan Karlin, Stiles Retail Group President. “Austin has been instrumental in our recent growth, having helped to source deals that have led us into new markets throughout Florida. With his deep understanding of the Tampa market, we are confident he will be able to hit the ground running.”

Freedman has been with Stiles for five years in an acquisition capacity within Stiles Retail Group, the company’s retail development and brokerage division. Over the past three years, Stiles Retail Group has executed several retail developments totaling more than 750,000 square feet as well as $75 million in lease transactions.
