Stiles Property Management took center stage at this week’s Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) International’s annual conference after the firm was honored with The Outstanding Building of the Year® (TOBY®) Award for the Plaza at Las Olas in downtown Fort Lauderdale. This represents Stiles’ first International TOBY award, which is the highest level attainable.
Plaza at Las Olas, Stiles’ headquarters building, was named the winner in the under 100,000 square feet category, beating out four other regional winner nominees across the U.S. and Canada. The Stiles-owned property has been renovated four times since it was originally built in the 1940s. In its most recent renovation, the property earned LEED certification while being transformed into a contemporary and functional Class A office space. The building is managed by Stiles’ Property Management team consisting of Yakir Dotan, Chris Gallego and Brad Hart.
“Winning an International TOBY Award validates our steadfast commitment to provide tenants with the superb quality, energy-efficient, cost-effective and productive workspaces along with outstanding service by each of our team members,” said President of Stiles Property Management Chris Rotolo.
“We are humbled to be recognized at the highest level and proud to be able to demonstrate to our owners, tenants and the community that our properties are managed to a standard of excellence that is literally second to none,” continued Rotolo.
A member of the BOMA Fort Lauderdale/Palm Beaches local, Stiles is only the second company in the region to win an International TOBY award since the program’s inception in 1982. The awards are the commercial real estate industry’s most prestigious recognition honoring excellence in commercial building management and operations in specific categories of building size or type.
To win an International TOBY Award, a property first must win both local and regional competitions. Judging is based on community impact, tenant/employee relations programs, energy management systems, accessibility, emergency evacuation procedures, building personnel training programs and overall quality indicators. A team of expert industry professionals also conducted comprehensive building inspections.
